Reinier van Houdt is a dutch pianist and composer. He works from a fascination with matters that defy notation: sound, timing, space, physicality, memory, noise and environment.
He premiered music by composers such as Francisco López, Robert Ashley, Walter Marchetti, Charlemagne Palestine, Maria de Alvear, Alvin Curran, Michael Pisaro, Jerry Hunt, Kaikhosru Sorabji. He also collaborated with Christian Marclay, John Cage, Alvin Lucier and Luc Ferrari.
Reinier van Houdt is a part of Current 93, recently releasing an album with contributions by Nick Cave, John Zorn and Antony Hegarty. He is also one of the driving forces behind experimental musicoutfit MAZE.
